Description:

A MONUMENTAL CHINESE CARVED IVORY PAGODA TOWER, having nine graduated elevations each crowded with carved ivory figures under individual rooftops, the lion head eave brackets hung with jade bell-form lanterns. Height on hexagonal teakwood base - 6'8".

    Condition:
  • 783: The pagoda tower is made of elephant ivory and is in good overall condition with light wear throughout. The ivory has several cracks and a few small chips. Seven Jade lanterns are missing and some of the ivory rings that hold or did hold bells are either missing or have been replaced with wire. The wood base shows several hairline cracks and some discoloration from cleaning. The ivory does not appear to separate into sections but it does separate from the base. The ivory measures 65.5" high and 15" wide at the widest point. The jade finial measures 3.25" high. The base measures 11.75" high x 17" wide.
