Description:

CASED MODEL SHIP: replica of "Armistad," square rigged top sail Schooner 1832, by Hermon Horst Boehme. In July, 1839, the Armistad transported Mende slaves from Africa, who revolted against their captors and took control of the ship. The Armistad became a symbol of the movement to abolish slavery. Case dimensions 19.25"L x 7"W x 15.5"D.
